Government prepares to deploy medical teams and supplies to quake-hit Turkey

The government has decided to send medical teams and essential assistances to Turkey, in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake.

A meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister, on Wednesday, took a decision to send aid to the friendly country.

In the meeting, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ termed Turkey as a good friend of Nepal and stressed the need of joining hands with it during the crisis. “Turkey is a good friend of Nepal. In past it was with us during the need and emergency and it is our responsibility to stand by its side these hours of grief,” he said, proposing the meeting to dispatch medical teams and emergency goods and essential logistics as soon as possible.

Turkey was struck by a 7.8 earthquake on Monday, reporting massive losses of lives and property.
