Nearly one in 10 children under the age of five in Afghanistan is suffering from acute malnutrition, while cuts in humanitarian assistance have restricted millions of people's access to health services, Save the Children announced, the local media Tolo news reported Thursday.
The organization said acute malnutrition among children under five has increased by 14 percent over the past four years, affecting around 3.7 million children in 2026.
According to the report, nearly 600 health facilities have been closed or suspended due to funding shortages, affecting about 4 million people and further limiting access to essential health services.
