
The Council of Ministers meeting held on Tuesday at Singh Durbar made several decisions, including extending the tenure of the committee formed to study and recommend measures related to the security mechanism mentioned in the report of the probe commission on the September 8-9, 2025 Gen Z movement.
Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel informed the media that the committee's tenure has been extended by 45 days.
The Cabinet also decided to accept and proceed with the ratification of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Montreal Protocol concerning the management and minimization of substances that deplete the ozone layer. Minister Pokharel said the decision was taken in view of environmental protection and ozone layer security.
Similarly, the government promoted Deputy Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Nepal, Anjani Kumar Pokharel, to the post of Additional Inspector General.
The Cabinet also appointed officials to vacant positions in the Land Problem Settlement Commission. Balbhadra Bastola of Kaski has been appointed Chairperson, while Amir Prasad Neupane of Kathmandu, Padmaniti Soti of Lamjung, and Dr. Rehana (Rana) Shrestha of Kathmandu have been appointed members of the commission.
