A ballot box was accidentally struck by a bullet fired from a police officer’s weapon while he was on election security duty in Udayapur, resulting in minor damage.
The incident occurred at around 7:10 a.m. at the Tawakhola (B) polling station, located at a vegetable and fruit market in Katari Municipality–3. According to reports, a shotgun carried by a Nepal Police officer deployed for security unexpectedly discharged, and the bullet hit a nearby ballot box.
Police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. Koshi Province Police Chief DIG Binod Ghimire stated that although the ballot box was damaged by the bullet, there was no other physical damage or human casualties.
Following the incident, the damaged ballot box was immediately replaced, and the voting process resumed without interruption. Security authorities said the situation remains normal and voting is proceeding smoothly.
