Kathmandu, Feb 7: An earthquake with its epicentre around Naya Bazar, located in Maijogmai Rural Municipality struck Ilam today.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, Lainchaur, the tremor measuring five on the Richter scale occurred this evening with its epicentre around Nayabazar in Maijogmai Rural Municipality of the district.
Previously, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale with its epicentre around Bagapati occurred in Udayapur district on January 3.
Nepal lies in the Himalayan region, which is seismologically active and earthquakes of various magnitudes have occurred at different times.
