Kathmandu, Sept 14: Sumana Shrestha, a prominent leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has announced her departure from the party.
The announcement was made through a statement posted on her official social media account earlier today.
In her post, Shrestha cited repeated internal issues within the party as the primary reason for her resignation. She alleged that mistakes continue to occur under the current leadership, yet accountability is disproportionately placed on party cadres rather than senior leaders.
Shrestha has been openly critical of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane in recent months, expressing dissatisfaction with his leadership style and decision-making process.
"I have now made it easier for you to attack me openly. Do as you wish, for as long as you wish—I have left the party," she stated in her post.
Her resignation marks a significant development within the RSP, which has faced growing scrutiny over internal governance and leadership transparency.
