Simkot (Humla), Nov 10: The Nepali Congress has finalized its candidate for the post of Vice Chair of Sarkegad Rural Municipality of Humla for by-elections to be held coming December 1.
Sabita Budha of Rahadev in ward no. 8 of the Rural Municipality-8 has been approved as the candidate to represent the NC in the upcoming by-elections, said district vice-chair of the party Basant Rokaya.
NC is the first major party to finalize its candidate for the post. Meanwhile, CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) have not been able to finalize their candidates so far. At present, UML is busy conducting a door-to-door campaign in all the eight wards of the Rural Municipality, said UML district secretary Tirtharaj Bohara.
Likewise, Dharmaraj Bohra, the district secretary of the CPN (MC) said that the party is also focused on Sarkegad for candidate selection.
The post of Vice-chair has fallen vacant after Chandrasingh Karki passed away in a road accident while going to Nepalgunj from Surkhet. Karki had been elected to the post based on an electoral alliance between the NC and the CPN (Maoist Centre) in the previous local level elections.
