
Nepal imported a total of 11,701 electric four wheelers in fiscal year 2023-24, a record high, the Department of Customs announced on Monday.
Of them, 8,065 electric vehicles (EVs) came from China, accounting for nearly 69 percent of the total imports.
In fiscal years 2022-23 and 2021-22, 4,050 and 1,805 EVs were shipped into Nepal, respectively, the customs figures showed.
The government has set a target of making EVs account for 25 percent of all private passenger vehicle sales by 2025.
