
Nepal defeated Malaysia by 5 wickets in their first match in ACC T20 Premier Cup today.
Electing to bat first, Malaysia set the target of 144 runs losing 3 wickets with captain Virandeep Singh’s 72 not out off 57 balls. Other batsmen Sharvin Muniandy scored 41 off 33 before being bowled in Abinash’s bowl in 17th over. Similarly, opener Muhammad Shukor contributed 16 off 18, Sayed Aziz 6 off 7 and Nazmus Sakib 3 unbeaten.
From Nepal’s bowling side, player of the match DS Airee took 2 wickets conceding 14 runs in his 4 overs spell while Abinash Bohara took 1.
In the second inning, Nepal gained the target in 19.2 overs losing 5 wickets. Opener Bhurtel scored 24 off 24, and Aasif Sheikh scored 32 off 35. Captain Poudel contributed 28 runs while Kushal Malla scored 7 runs. In addition, DS Airee scored 20 off 11, and Sundeep Jora and Gulsan Jha remained unbeaten in 12 and 19 runs respectively.
Malaysian captain Virandeep Singh took 3 wickets and Pawandeep Singh and Muhammad Wafiq took 1 each.
Earlier today, in other group stage matches, host Oman beat Bahrain, UAE beat Kuwait and Hong Kong beat Qatar.
ACC T20 Premier Cup, the road to 2025 Asia Cup, has started today in Oman. Ten teams are competing in the tournament with Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in Group A, and UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Cambodia in Group B.
Nepal will play next match against Qatar tomorrow.
