Nepal has lost to Namibia by 2 wickets in the match in the ongoing ICC CWC League 2 in Nepal.
Elected to bowl first, Namibia bowled Nepal for 168 runs in 37.1 overs. Chasing the target of 169 in 50 overs, Namibia won the match by 2 wickets with 60 balls left .
With the gloomy weather in Kirtipur, Nepal started their batting with 38 for none till Namibian slow left-arm bowler Bernard Scholtz took two wickets in seventh over.
Opener Kushal Bhurtel goes for 18 and Anil Kumar Sah for no run in the same over. Bhurtel could not read Scholtz bowl when he was lbw out, and Sah was caught in the short cover.
Aasif Sheikh got his 12th ODI half century scoring 58 in 64 balls. Similarly, Kushal Malla contributed 36 off 52, Bhim Sharki 26 off 36 before getting bowled in Scholtz leg break and Karan KC 12 off 12 when he got caught in 37.1 over as the last wicket. Other batsmen did not score a double digit. Scholtz and Nicol Loftie-Eaton hauled 4 wickets each to wrap Nepal in low score.
Namibia lost their first wicket Niko Davin (8 off 5 balls) in second over as run out. They continued to falter when Rohit Poudel bowled Namibian opener Jean-Pierre Kotze for 3 runs. However, Captain Gerhard Erasmus scored his 13th ODI half century, 52 off 56, to lead his team to victory.
Nepalese bowlers continued to take wickets to arouse sensation among the spectators around the world. Bhurtel took 3 wickets while Poudel, Airee, Malla, and Rajbanshi took 1 wicket each. But Namibia survived till 40 overs and scored 172 runs losing 8 wickets.
This is second win for Namibia in this ongoing series, both against Nepal. Nepal had won 1 match against Netherlands, and they will play their next match on Sunday against Netherlands.
