Two back-to-back earthquakes jolted Sudurpaschim this afternoon.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale was reported in the area around 2:40 PM. A 6.3-magnitude earthquake was detected near Chainpur, Bajhang, in less than half an hour, at 3:06 PM.
According to Narayan Pande, Chief District Officer of Bajhang, "a dry landslide along the Jai Prithvi Highway has blocked the road."
According to the authorities, one individual has died in a landslide following the earthquake in Jayaprithvi Municipality 11, and over a dozen people are injured.
