Over 170 Killed In Road Accidents In Kathmandu Valley In 11 Months

More than half of the deceased (35 men and 43 women) were of 17-35 age group

One hundred seventy eight people were killed in a total of 9,683 road accidents in the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts) as of June 15, 2023 of the current fiscal year, 2022/23, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.

Similarly, 242 people were seriously injured, and 7,363 sustained minor injuries from that many accidents in the Valley.

Ninety three of them died in motorcycle and scooter accidents, and 56 were pedestrians. More than half of the deceased (35 men and 43 women) were of 17-35 age group.

Negligence of the drivers, over speeding, drink-driving, overtaking, bad weather and other technical problems have been blamed for the accidents.
