Psychiatric Hospitals To Be Upgraded: In-Patient Mental Health Care In All Federal Hospitals

Government has allotted budget to increase the capacity of Psychiatric facilities'.

Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat today said that all federal hospitals will provide in-patient mental health care, while presenting the annual budget.

He added that government has set aside the funds required to improve the Burn Unit at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu to upgrade it into a fully equipped Burn Center.

The civil hospital will be modernized and expanded to become a super speciality hospital. The service of the civil hospital will be developed at the provincial level in collaboration with the provincial hospital, and provisions will be created for government personnel to readily access treatment services.

Geriatric Wards in government hospitals for the elderly will be operationalized with regular monitoring for dementia and Alzheimer's disease as they age and therapy will be organized in collaboration with the doctors.
