Police Arrest Former Home Minister Khand At His Residence

Along with former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and others, he was dragged into the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

Balkrishna Khand, former minister of home affairs and Nepali Congress  leader, has been arrested.

Khand was detained this morning at his residence according to police.

Along with former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and others, he was dragged into the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

Police also held Narendra KC, the personal assistant (PA) to the former Minister of Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand, on the charge of his alleged involvement in the scam.

Police nabbed KC this morning from Jadibuti in Bhaktapur.

With this, the number of alleged ones involved in the racket has reached 12, police said.

In connection to the same case, police have apprehended and are interrogating Indrajit Rai, who served as security advisor to the then Minister of Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa, the then Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Tek Narayan Pandey, Sandeep Rayamajhi, the son of CPN (UML) secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and others Keshav Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Tanka Gurung, Sandesh Sharma and Sagar Thulung.

CPN-UML Secretary Rayamajhi is absconding.

So far, 106 victims of fake Bhutanese refugee scam have filed complaints at the police office. They lodged complaints noting the middlemen or fraudsters fleeced over Rs 230 million from them in different time giving them a false hope to send to the United States in the guise of Bhutanese refugees.
