Tanahun Folks Overjoyed for President-Elect Poudel

The people in Tanahun district perceive Ram Chandra Poudel as a gentle, simple and honest politician.

Not only in his hometown but also in the national politics, Poudel established himself as an uncompromising and dedicated leader. The people in Tanahun are elated, as Poudel rose to prominence from his election to the post of the President. In the parliamentary elections, Poudel had won elections six times from Tanahun.

Born in a middleclass peasant's family at Risti village in Tanahun, the people here have described his victory to the country's third President as their pride. The locals have expressed the confidence that Poudel would work for the cause of the country and people. The people have laid emphasis for his custodian role and impartiality for the promotion of national unity and safeguard of the constitution.

Former Dean of Faculty of Education of the Tribhuvan University Prof Dr Krishna Prasad Gautam said that getting an ideologue, simple and undisputed personality as the President is a matter of pride for the country. "Ram Chandra Poduel is a highly experienced leader. He made a long struggle for the cause of democracy. Spent his time in jail. The dignity of the President's post has further increased after his election,"

Prof Dr Gautam, a resident of Vyas Municipality-3 said. "We are optimistic that he will justify himself as a patriot President since he is now the guardian for the nation, not only of Tanahun," Gautam added.

Likewise, former MP Kedar Sigdel said that the President should perform a neutral role. "The newly-elected President was established in the politics from Tanahun. He is also our senior. As a resident of the district, it is a matter of pride for all of us," Sigdel added.

Sabitri Adhikari, a neighbour of Poudel, said she is filled with happiness for Poudel's accession to the country's supreme post. Likewise, Chairperson of Vyas-8, Risti, Yubraj Gurung said the locals in the ward are excited with Poudel's election.
