Chitwan hosting 3rd Asian Rhino Range Countries’ Meeting

Chitwan is hosting an international conference on the conservation of the one-horned rhino on February 3-5.

Senior officials from five Asian countries will be joining the ‘Third Rhino Range Countries Meeting’ scheduled to take place at Patihani of Chitwan.

According to Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation’s information officer Dr Ganesh Pant, people from the relevant field in Nepal, India, Bhutan, Indonesia and Malaysia will be attending the event.

India is home to the largest population of one-horned rhinos followed by Nepal. The meeting is expected to discuss about challenges in the conservation of the animal, coming up with plans for its protection ahead.

The first gathering was held in Indonesia and the second in New Delhi, India.
