Foreign Tourist Arrivals Rise By 2.3% In July

Nepal received 71,775 foreign tourists in July this year, a 2.3 percent increase from the 70,193 arrivals recorded in the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.

India remained the largest source market, with 23,490 visitors accounting for 32.7 percent of total arrivals. China recorded the strongest growth, with 11,099 tourists visiting Nepal in July, up by 61.1 percent from 6,890 a year earlier. Chinese arrivals also surpassed pre-pandemic levels, exceeding the 10,215 visitors recorded in July 2019 by 8.7 percent.

The United States ranked third with 7,754 visitors, followed by Bangladesh (4,179), the United Kingdom (3,773), and Australia (2,428).

By region, South Asian countries contributed the highest number of visitors, with 29,755 arrivals, representing 41.5 percent of the total. However, this was an 11.9 percent decline from July 2025. Bhutan sent 991 tourists, Pakistan 475, Sri Lanka 581, and the Maldives 39.

Tourist arrivals from other Asian countries rose by 33.1 percent year-on-year to 17,424. After China, the largest contributors were South Korea (1,394), Malaysia (1,380), Japan (1,111), Vietnam (574), Singapore (437), Myanmar (437), and Thailand (428).

Meanwhile, Nepal received 8,824 tourists from the Americas, 2,607 from Oceania, 736 from West Asia, and 324 from Africa during the month.
