A new online platform, sanchargriha.com, has been introduced for users who write, read, and convert text in the Nepali language.
The platform enables users to seamlessly convert Preeti to Unicode and Unicode to Preeti. Additionally, it offers a feature that allows users to type in Romanized Nepali and convert it into Nepali script.
According to the developer, particular emphasis has been placed on enhancing the User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) to distinguish this platform from existing converters. Furthermore, the developers state that this font converter can be accessed free of charge on any website.
Simple and User-Friendly
Although the ‘Preeti’ font remains widely used in Nepal, Unicode has become essential for government offices, online media, and official documentation. The developers assert that sanchargriha.com provides a convenient solution for users transitioning between these formats.
“Most current converters are complicated, filled with advertisements, or not optimized for mobile devices. We have created a system that is easy to understand and delivers instant results,” a developer explained.
Romanized Nepali Feature
Younger users frequently rely on Roman script in social media and mobile communication. For instance, when a user types “Mero naam Ram ho,” the platform will directly convert it into the corresponding Nepali script. This feature is expected to encourage the younger generation to write more in their native language and strengthen their connection with Nepali.
Useful for Journalists and the Publishing Sector
According to Shambhu Dhungana, Head of Sanchargriha, the platform will be particularly helpful for journalists, editors, translators, and publishing houses. The developers claim that sanchargriha.com offers an efficient solution for the often time-consuming process of converting text between Unicode and Preeti during news editing, book publishing, or academic research.
Mobile-Friendly Design
The platform has been optimized for mobile use. Its simple interface, straightforward navigation, and rapid conversion functions are expected to make mobile usage more common than desktop use.
The development team aims to introduce additional features such as spell checking, grammar suggestions, a live Nepali typing tool, and a multilingual converter. With these enhancements, the goal is to develop sanchargriha.com into a comprehensive linguistic resource rather than solely a converter.
The platform is expected to enhance the accessibility and relevance of the Nepali language at a time when its digital usage is declining. “Our objective is to support the promotion and digital accessibility of the Nepali language,” said Nikesh Maharjan, Head and Developer at Dalfa Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
