Host Hong Kong has defeated Nepal by 73 runs in today’s T20I Friendship Cup match.
Captain Rohit Poudel chose to bowl first today at Mission Road Ground, Hong Kong. Hong Kong scored 212 runs losing 6 wickets. Hong Kong batsman Babar Hayat scored 110 runs in 49 balls to lead the scoreboard to high score. Another batsman Anshy Rath scored 39 runs and opener Martin Coetzee scored 31 off 21.
Among Nepali bowlers, pace bowler Akash Chand took 3 wickets in his debut match. Aarif Sheikh, Pratish GC and Rashid Khan shared 1 wicket each.
Nepal were all out in 139 runs in 16.4 overs. Wicket Keeper Binod Bhandari, Captain Rohit Poudel and allrounder Aarif Sheikh contributed 42, 30 and 38 runs in their inning which was not sufficient to make the team win. Others playing XI from Nepal- Kushal Bhurtel, Sundeep Jora, Gulsan Jha, Bibek Yadav, Rashid Khan, Pratish GC, Akash Chand, and Sagar Dhakal did not score less than double digit.
Hong Kong Aizaz Khan took 4 while Ehsan Khan took 3 wickets. Ateeq Iqbal and Nasrulla Rana took 1 wicket each.
Nepal will play the Triangular Series with the host along with Papua New Guinea starting from tomorrow.
