Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has received a vote of confidence.
He has been given a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives meeting held on Monday.
Speaker of the House, Devraj Ghimire, informed the House that the vote of confidence proposed by Prime Minister Dahal was passed by the majority, as 172 votes were cast in favor. 89 votes were cast against the proposal, whereas 1 vote was abstained.
Speaker Ghimire informed the House that 262 members of the HoR voted during today's meeting.
The Nepali Congress, the CPN-Maoist Centre, Rashtriya Swatantra Party, and CPN-Unified Socialist Party, among others, have given a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Dahal.
CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party among others voted against Prachanda's proposal. The Nepal Workers Peasants Party abstained in its single vote.
A situation was emerged for the PM to secure vote of confidence with the erstwhile ruling coalition partners, CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, quitting the government when there was disagreement in regard to the elections to pick the President and Vice-President.
There is a constitutional provision that the Prime Minister should take a vote of confidence within 30 days after political parties that partnered with the government withdrew their support.
