The Federation of International Journalists, America (FIJA) Family has appealed to the U.S. President and Administration to increase humanitarian assistance to Nepal following catastrophic floods and natural disasters.
FIJA said more than a thousand people have reportedly lost their lives, thousands remain missing, and countless families are searching for loved ones. Foreign nationals, including Americans, as well as journalists and media personnel, have also been affected.
The organization urged the United States to strengthen support for search and rescue, emergency medical services, food, water, temporary shelters, transportation, communications, and reconstruction efforts.
FIJA also appealed to the U.S. Congress, humanitarian organizations, businesses, medical institutions, Nepali-American communities, and the American people to stand with Nepal during the crisis.
Highlighting the longstanding friendship between Nepal and the United States, FIJA said the appeal transcends politics and is focused on saving lives, helping survivors, finding the missing, and supporting Nepal’s recovery and rebuilding.
