Mohan Niraula has been chosen chairman of the Film Artistes Association of Nepal, the country's umbrella body of cineastes. Niraula beat Rejina Upreti in his election to the position.
Niraula received 235 votes during the Association's 19th annual assembly on Saturday, while Upreti received 209 votes.
Niraula previously served as the association's general secretary for four terms and as vice chairman for three.
He has pledged to work for the professional security of artists after being elected to the position.
Similarly, Kabita Gelal and Shivahari Nepal were chosen vice chairs, while Sabin Shrestha was elected general secretary with 113 votes.
